We provide full training for Marine Mammal Observers (MMO's) under the regulations in seismic mitigation NTL 2007-G02. GeoCet has met all of the Minerals Management Service (MMS) training qualifications. Our course and materials have been reviewed and accepted and are on file with the MMS for seismic operations within the Gulf of Mexico.
The training consists of two parts over two days and those completing the two-day course and testing will receive a certification card for their training and be recorded with the MMS as a trained observer.
For those individuals who may want to educate themselves on the compliance issues and methodologies but not want to be immersed in the testing requirements, we suggest attending the one-day course (the first day of the 2-day course). Keep in mind that you must attend both days to become a certified observer. The certification process is for visual observers only and will not include training on equipment for passive acoustic monitoring.
GeoCet personnel maintain the following safety certifications:
- Marine Mammal Observer
- Marine Mammal Observer Certified Trainers
- SafeGulf
- SafeGulf Certified Trainers
- Water Survival
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
- Passive Acoustic Monitoring (in-house acoustic certification)
- Petroleum Education Council
- McMillan Certification
